Sturgeon farm project launched in Kazakhstan’s Mangystau region

A groundbreaking ceremony was held in the Mangystau region for the construction of a sturgeon caviar farm. The project is being implemented with the support of Kazakh Invest national company.

According to Kazakh Invest, the farm will be located in the coastal zone of the Caspian Sea. The main goal is to restore the sturgeon population in the Caspian basin through the use of high-quality genetics, the involvement of foreign specialists, and the implementation of European experience in aquaculture.

The project will be implemented in stages, with a capacity of approximately 1,000 sturgeon and 20 tons of caviar per year. It is also planned to breed Russian sturgeon, smelt, and bream species in the initial stage. The initiative is being implemented by Red Pearl Fish Farm LLP and Swiss Choice Holding SA.

The farm’s construction will utilize modern mixed technologies, including a closed-loop water circulation system for egg incubation and fry rearing, as well as open-air sea pools and net pens for fish farming and raising to marketable levels.

The project’s first phase is expected to create at least 40 new jobs, increase tax revenues, develop Kyzylozen village’s infrastructure, and implement green technologies.
