Kazakhstan and China have launched a joint digital platform for trading grain and agricultural products. The new tool is expected to increase Kazakh agricultural exports to China, a key market for Kazakhstan.
The platform was inaugurated on September 5 as part of the Kazakh delegation’s participation in the 8th China Grain Trade Conference, according to the Kazakh Ministry of Agriculture.
The new platform is based on China’s National Online Grain Trading Platform, which unites approximately 50,000 agricultural enterprises. It is operated by the Grain Trade Coordination Center of the National Food and Strategic Reserves Administration (NAFRA) of China.
The new digital tool will allow Kazakh and Chinese companies to conduct trade transactions online, directly interact with potential partners, and conclude deals without intermediaries.
Kazakhstan’s Deputy Minister of Agriculture Nazgul Khatepova, who attended the conference and the launch event, stated: “Currently, 35 Kazakhstani companies are already registered on the trading platform. Initially, the platform will be used to trade grain and oilseeds, as well as vegetable oil and oilseed products. The list of products may be expanded in the future, taking into account demand in the Chinese market. I am confident that the platform will expand sales markets, increase the export of Kazakh products, and strengthen agricultural cooperation between our countries.”
At the 8th China Grain Trade Conference, the Kazakh delegation presented the export potential of Kazakhstan’s agricultural sector and outlined promising areas of cooperation with China, including increasing bilateral agricultural trade, developing cross-border logistics, introducing digital tools in the agricultural sector, and promoting Kazakh agricultural products on the Chinese market.
Khatepova emphasized the strategic importance of cooperation between Kazakhstan and China in the agricultural sector.
“China is not only a key market for Kazakh agricultural products, but also an important partner in developing trade, investment, logistics, processing, and the implementation of modern digital technologies,” she said.
According to the Kazakh Ministry of Agriculture, in 2025, agricultural trade between Kazakhstan and China grew by 36.8%, reaching $1.97 billion, with Kazakh agricultural exports to China totaling $1.4 billion, a 6.5-fold increase compared to 2021.
In January-June 2026, Kazakh agricultural exports to China reached $1.1 billion, almost double the amount in the same period last year.
The main export commodities are animal feed, vegetable oils, oilseeds, and grain.
