Samarkand to host ‘Dishes of the East’ festival

On March 23–24, the city of Samarkand will host the “Dishes of the East” festival for the first time. The event is organized to widely promote the rich traditions of Eastern cuisine, showcase its unique flavors and cooking culture at the international level, as well as to support the development of gastronomic tourism and increase the flow of tourists to Uzbekistan, according to the country’s Tourism Committee.

Eastern cuisine has long been known around the world for its distinctive taste, variety, and unique cooking methods. During the festival, guests will not only be able to taste a wide range of dishes but also watch the cooking process.

On the first day, the festival will take place on Alisher Navoi Street in Samarkand with the participation of international chefs. Culinary experts from different countries will prepare and present their national dishes to visitors.

On the second day, the same venue will host the “Taste of Samarkand” festival with the participation of local chefs, where visitors will have the opportunity to explore the best examples of Samarkand cuisine and traditional Uzbek dishes.

Throughout the festival, daily culinary competitions will be held with the participation of more than 100 chefs. More than 50 unique dishes will also be prepared and demonstrated. Guests will be able to attend master classes by professional chefs and watch demonstrations of cooking techniques from different countries around the world.

In addition, the festival will feature exhibitions of handicrafts and Eastern sweets, as well as various cultural and entertainment concert programs. Special awards are planned for chefs participating in the competitions.

The festival is expected to become an unforgettable event for everyone interested in Uzbek culture and traditions.
