Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan strengthen partnership in healthcare

The forum “Kazakhstan–Uzbekistan: Cooperation in Healthcare, Technology, and Personnel” opened in Tashkent on October 17, as part of the Days of Kazakh Medicine in Uzbekistan.

“Our countries share a common desire to develop sustainable, accessible, and technologically advanced healthcare systems. Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan are addressing similar challenges in modernization, personnel training, digital transformation, and innovation. We are convinced that the unification of the scientific, technological, and human resources potential of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan will provide a powerful impetus for the creation of a regional ecosystem of innovative healthcare,” Kazakhstan’s Minister of Health, Akmaral Alnazarova, said in her welcoming remarks.

According to the Kazakh Ministry of Health, as part of the Days of Kazakh Medicine in Uzbekistan, more than 100 specialists from the leading Kazakh clinics conducted on-site consultations, master classes, and surgeries in five cities across Uzbekistan—Tashkent, Fergana, Samarkand, Bukhara, and Nukus.

During these days, approximately 3,000 residents of the country received specialist consultations, and over 60 joint complex surgical interventions were performed at the National Medical Center and specialized medical institutions in Uzbekistan in the areas of cardiology, oncology, traumatology, and phthisiology.

Mobile medical units equipped with diagnostic equipment conducted initial examinations of residents in rural areas of the Syrdarya and Jizzakh regions.

“Holding such a large-scale event as the Days of Kazakh Medicine in Uzbekistan was an important step toward further strengthening cooperation, identifying new promising areas, promoting cutting-edge initiatives, exchanging scientific achievements and practical experience in primary and specialized healthcare, and developing mutual trade in pharmaceuticals,” noted Uzbek Health Minister Asilbek Khudayarov.

Alnazarova emphasized the importance of cooperation in personnel training: “Currently, approximately 700 Uzbek citizens are studying at medical universities in Kazakhstan, and over 100 students from Kazakhstan are studying at Tashkent Medical University. Our countries are creating a unified educational space for training a new generation of doctors.”

At the forum, several memorandums of cooperation were signed between research centers, leading clinics, and medical universities in Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.
