Valmont Industries to produce irrigation machines in Kazakhstan

Valmont Industries, a leading global irrigation machinery manufacturer, plans to localize production of precision irrigation equipment (Valley brand) in Kazakhstan. The project was discussed on April 9 by Kazakh Agriculture Minister Aidarbek Saparov and Philipp Schmidt-Holzmann, Valmont’s Regional Vice President, Eurasia & Latin America.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture, Saparov emphasized that the development of irrigated agriculture is a key priority of Kazakhstan’s agricultural policy.

“The President has set the goal of annually introducing water-saving irrigation technologies on up to 150,000 hectares. This measure is aimed at modernizing agriculture, increasing the efficiency of water use, and expanding irrigated land. We are interested in projects to increase irrigated land, including by attracting foreign investment. The project you propose is of great importance for the development of the agricultural sector. It will improve the sector’s resilience to climate risks and ensure increased crop yields,” Saparov noted.

Schmidt-Holzmann noted the high potential of the Central Asian market for implementing modern irrigation solutions, saying that cooperation with local industrial partners will ensure the effective implementation of the project.

JSC Imstalkon will act as the Kazakh partner in the project.

The Karaganda, East Kazakhstan, Pavlodar, Almaty, and Turkestan regions, where the company’s production facilities are located, are being considered for production sites.

The project is expected to produce 300-500 irrigation machines per year, with a total investment of $17 million.

The project is expected to support the development of the country’s agro-industrial sector, increase the availability of modern irrigation technologies for farmers, and contribute to the rational use of water resources.
