Uzbekistan’s exports to Afghanistan exceeded $873 million during the first eight months of this year, TOLOnews reported with reference to the Uzbek National Statistical Committee.

According to Afghanistan’s National Statistics and Information Authority, the country’s exports to Uzbekistan stood at more than $28 million over the past six months.

The Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Investment also stated that through meetings with Uzbekistan’s private sector, important agreements have been reached in the areas of transit, trade, and joint investment.

Jan Agha Naveed, spokesperson for the Chamber of Commerce and Investment, said: “The Chamber of Commerce and Investment of Afghanistan has always strived to improve our relations with regional countries, especially Uzbekistan, because trade and transit through Uzbekistan holds particular importance, as our railway lines connect through it to China, Kazakhstan, Russia, and the European Union.”

Afghanistan and Uzbekistan also have joint projects in the fields of energy and transportation. According to experts, such cooperation could transform Afghanistan into a key hub connecting Central Asia with South Asia.
