The published draft of the updated “Uzbekistan-2030” Strategy revises energy sector indicators. The document significantly reduces natural gas production plans for the next five years, Tashkent Today reported.
The new target for 2030 has been set at 38.7 billion cubic meters, 37% less than the 62 billion cubic meter plan approved in September 2023.
From 2026 to 2030, gas production is planned to reach approximately 186.8 billion cubic meters. Annual plans indicate a negative trend: a decline to 37.9 billion cubic meters in 2026, to 35.6 billion in 2027, and to 33.4 billion cubic meters in 2028. In 2029, an increase to 41.2 billion cubic meters is expected.
According to analysts, over the past four years, gas production volumes have already reduced by 21.7%.
In the first 11 months of 2025, Uzbekistan produced 38.9 billion cubic meters of natural gas. In recent years, Uzbekistan, a traditional gas exporter, has begun importing natural gas from Russia, marking a historic turn in its energy policy.
