Uzbekistan ranks low in global internet freedom rankings

The Cloudwards analytical project published the Internet Freedom by Country in 2026 report. It analyzed data from various sources across four key categories to measure how easy it really is for netizens in each country to access online sites and services. These categories include torrenting, adult content, political and civic content, and VPN accessibility. The study rated countries on a scale from 0 to 100.

In Central Asia, Tajikistan ranked the highest with a score of 56, followed by Kyrgyzstan (52). Kazakhstan scored 36 for internet freedom, and Uzbekistan tied with Afghanistan with a score of 24. Turkmenistan has the worst score in the region (16), and North Korea has the worst score globally (0), Tashkent Today reported.

Russia, China, and Iran are at the bottom of the rankings with a score of 4.

World leaders for internet freedom include Norway, Denmark, Finland, and Iceland (92).
