Uzbekistan attracts more Chinese tourists

In recent years, the number of Chinese tourists visiting Uzbekistan has been growing significantly. According to the Uzbek Tourism Committee, following the introduction of a visa-free regime, the tourist flow from China increased 3.5-fold. In the first five months of 2026, 178,121 Chinese citizens visited Uzbekistan, 78% more compared to the same period in 2024.

One of the key factors attracting Chinese tourists is Uzbekistan’s safe and relatively affordable tourism environment. For many travelers, the country serves as a more accessible alternative to European and other long-distance destinations, while offering a rich historical heritage.

According to the latest analytical data published in the World Tourism Barometer by the UN Tourism, Uzbekistan has ranked among the world’s top five countries with the highest growth rates in attracting international tourists in January–March 2026. The number of international visitors to the country increased by 37% compared to 2025, demonstrating Uzbekistan’s continued strengthening of its position on the global tourism map.

In 2025, Uzbekistan set a new national record by receiving nearly 11.7 million foreign tourists. During the first five months of 2026, Uzbekistan received more than 5.3 million visitors.

The growth in tourist arrivals has been driven by the expansion of the visa-free regime, improved transport accessibility, and the implementation of an active international marketing strategy.
