British publisher and public figure Marat Akhmedjanov has been awarded a medal from the International Organization of Turkic Culture, TÜRKSOY, which unites the states of the Turkic world and is dedicated to preserving their shared historical and cultural heritage.
The award was presented in recognition of Akhmedjanov’s long-standing contribution to the development of literature, culture, and international cultural cooperation between the countries of Eurasia.
For over 25 years of his publishing activity, hundreds of international publishing and cultural initiatives have been implemented through Silk Road Media, Hertfordshire Press, OCA Magazine, and the Eurasian Creative Guild. These projects have enabled works by authors from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Turkey, Turkmenistan, and other countries to be published in English and reach an international audience.
A special place in cooperation with the Turkic cultural community is occupied by the collaboration with the Secretary General of TÜRKSOY, renowned writer and public figure Sultan Raev. In 2025, he was the guest of honor at the international Voices of Friends festival in Burabay, organized by the Eurasian Creative Guild. Later, Marat Akhmedjanov visited TÜRKSOY headquarters in Ankara, where he learned about the organization’s programs aimed at developing cultural cooperation between the Turkic states.
The TÜRKSOY medal recognizes Akhmedjanov’s significant work in promoting the literature of the Turkic peoples on the international stage. Over a quarter-century of publishing activity, hundreds of authors have had the opportunity to present their works to new readers beyond their own countries.
Such initiatives contribute to strengthening cultural ties between the peoples of Eurasia, and books and literary projects continue to be an effective tool for international dialogue and mutual understanding. The TÜRKSOY medal further confirms the role of publishing and cultural projects in preserving and promoting the rich heritage of the Turkic world globally.
