On September 8, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and President of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić held talks in Belgrade.
At the beginning of the meeting, Mirziyoyev emphasized that the first visit by the President of Uzbekistan to Serbia will go down in history as the beginning of a new stage in relations between the two countries.
Following the talks, the presidents signed a Joint Declaration on the Establishment of Strategic Partnership Relations between the two countries.
The leaders noted the growing momentum in political dialogue, inter-parliamentary ties, trade and economic cooperation, as well as business and humanitarian exchanges.
Trade, economic, and investment cooperation is becoming a solid foundation for bilateral relations.
On September 7, the first meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission was held, followed by an Uzbekistan–Serbia business forum that took place on September 8 with the participation of leading companies from both countries.
Particular attention was paid to increasing bilateral trade. In this regard, the sides emphasized the importance of developing and adopting a Free Trade Agreement, establishing cooperation in the field of standardization, and organizing reciprocal exhibitions.
The sides discussed the implementation of new joint projects in priority areas such as transport and logistics, light and food industries, agriculture, pharmaceuticals, medicine, and the digital economy. They also highlighted the significant potential for industrial cooperation in the production of automotive components, equipment, electrical engineering, and electronics.
To ensure the effective implementation of all agreements, a joint Action Plan for the Development of Industrial Partnership for 2026–2028 has been adopted.
The leaders emphasized the importance of further developing interregional cooperation. They welcomed the establishment of direct ties between the Samarkand region and Vojvodina, as well as between the cities of Samarkand and Novi Sad.
Special attention was paid to organized labor migration. The Serbian side expressed strong interest in establishing systematic cooperation in this area. The sides welcomed the adoption of an agreement on mobility and labor migration during the visit.
