The United States delivered 75 tons of U.S.-manufactured food worth $255,666 to support about 40,000 vulnerable populations across Tajikistan. This shipment, produced in Lubbock, Texas by Breedlove Foods, includes a nutritious lentil-rice-vegetable mix enriched with essential vitamins and minerals, according to the US Embassy in Dushanbe.
This lifesaving food will be distributed to more than 140 health and social institutions, including tuberculosis facilities, psychiatric institutions, oncology centers, and shelters for refugees. This delivery aims to improve the health and well-being of thousands of at-risk individuals.
The distribution of this food assistance will be overseen by the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of the Population, the Emergency and Civil Defense Committee, the National Tuberculosis Center, and the Red Crescent Society.
Since 2007, the U.S. government has delivered 1,000 tons of U.S.-produced fortified food assistance to Tajikistan, valued at over $2.2 million. This initiative is made possible through the collaboration of the Ministry of Health and key partners, including the NGO “Avesto” and the American NGO “Resource and Policy Exchange.”
