U.S.-Uzbekistan Business Investment Council launched

On April 6, Special Envoy for South and Central Asia Sergio Gor attended the first meeting in Washington D.C. of the U.S.-Uzbekistan Business Investment Council alongside Uzbekistan’s Head of the Presidential Administration Ms. Saida Mirziyoyeva.

Speaking at the meeting, Special Envoy Gor stated, “President Trump understands the importance of Central Asia, and especially Uzbekistan, in global commerce and connectivity.”

He added that the U.S.-Uzbekistan Business Investment Council will deepen and broaden our economic engagement, promote trade and investment, and encourage long-term commercial partnerships between U.S. and Uzbek companies. This effort will not only strengthen the U.S.’s ties with Uzbekistan but also lead to job creation in both countries and advance a shared vision of an even more prosperous and secure region.

The American–Uzbek Business and Investment Council officially commenced its work — a platform created to strengthen ties between entrepreneurs of our two countries, Saida Mirziyoyeva wrote on X. The Council is intended to provide a solid institutional foundation for advancing our shared business ambitions. The establishment of the Council was made possible by the high level of trust between the presidents of both states, she added.

On April 7, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Special Envoy Sergio Gor met with Mirziyoyeva to advance the U.S.-Uzbekistan strategic partnership.

Secretary Rubio and Mirziyoyeva enjoyed a fruitful discussion on concrete ways to deepen private sector investment cooperation between the United States and Uzbekistan in critical minerals, emerging technologies, and infrastructure.

According to the U.S. Department of State, the United States welcomes the opportunity to expand its bilateral cooperation with Uzbekistan, reinforce mutually beneficial commercial and security partnerships, and support Uzbekistan’s sovereignty and continued regional integration.
