U.S. Special Envoy for Global Partnerships visits Uzbekistan

U.S. Special Envoy for Global Partnerships Ambassador Paolo Zampolli carried out a full slate of high-level meetings in Tashkent during his August 28–September 1 visit to Uzbekistan.

On August 28, Ambassador Zampolli was received by President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev.  Ambassador Zampolli conveyed President Donald J. Trump’s sincere greetings and warm congratulations on the occasion of Uzbekistan’s Independence Day.

The leaders reviewed opportunities to further expand the strategic partnership between the United States and Uzbekistan.  They welcomed the strong momentum in bilateral ties, including constructive political dialogue, growing inter-parliamentary exchanges, and preparations for the inaugural Expanded Strategic Partnership Dialogue this autumn.

In a meeting with Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov, Ambassador Zampolli underscored America’s unwavering commitment to Uzbekistan’s independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity.  Both sides reaffirmed their dedication to enhancing regional connectivity, combating transnational threats, and strengthening cultural and educational exchange. Ambassador Zampolli’s visit coincided with Uzbekistan’s Independence Day – a moment to celebrate Uzbekistan’s proud sovereignty and the strength of the U.S.-Uzbekistan partnership.

“Here in Tashkent, in meetings with President Mirziyoyev and across every ministry, our message is unmistakable: America stands firmly with Uzbekistan. Together, we are building prosperity, advancing freedom, and forging a partnership that will stand the test of time,” said Ambassador Zampolli.
