On July 9, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov received Steve Daines, a member of the United States Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources and Senator from the state of Montana, who arrived in Turkmenistan on a visit.
Senator Daines conveyed warm greetings and best wishes from President Donald Trump to the Turkmen head of state.
President Berdimuhamedov expressed confidence that this visit would provide momentum for the further development of friendly Turkmen-American relations. He noted that an active political dialogue has been maintained between the two countries in recent years.
A vivid example of this is the working visit of the President of Turkmenistan to Washington, made in November last year to participate in the “Central Asia + USA” Summit. During the visit, a productive exchange of views on the current state and further development of Turkmen-American relations took place in a conversation with US President Donald Trump.
The trade and economic sphere is one of the promising areas of bilateral relations. In this field, a positive experience of long-term partnership with American companies has been accumulated.
In this context, the significant contribution of the Turkmenistan–US Business Council to the coordination of economic relations was highlighted.
During the meeting, the head of state reaffirmed Turkmenistan’s readiness for cooperation with the US in such key areas as the fuel and energy complex, transport, financial and banking sectors, advanced technologies, and artificial intelligence.
Touching upon the energy sector, President Berdimuhamedov emphasized that Turkmenistan highly appreciates the attention and support provided by the US for the implementation of the transnational Turkmenistan–Afghanistan–Pakistan–India (TAPI) gas pipeline project.
