On February 25, Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed proposals for the development of urbanization processes and the expansion of green areas in Tashkent.
In recent years, the economy and agglomeration of the capital have been developing dynamically, and the permanent population of Tashkent has exceeded 3.1 million. It is projected that the city’s population will more than double by 2045.
In order to improve the urban environment and enhance the quality of life, the expansion of green areas has been identified as a priority task. Specifically, in Tashkent and its adjacent areas, it is planned to triple the total area of green zones to 25,000 hectares and increase green space provision per capita from 3 to 6 square meters.
The President instructed that the development of urbanization processes in the capital be aligned with public interests, the requirements of a healthy urban environment, and ecological standards.
