Tajikistan approves quota for Afghan migrant workers

Tajikistan has set a quota for recruiting migrant workers from Afghanistan, TOLOnews reports with reference to Tajik media.

According to reports, Tajikistan has approved the recruitment of 520 Afghan workers for the current year, of whom 420 will be employed in the capital, Dushanbe.

Tajik media report that Tajikistan plans to recruit nearly 5,500 foreign workers in total, with the majority allocated to various cities and regions, including Dushanbe, Sughd, Khatlon, and Badakhshan.

Afghan analysts say that labor migration could provide an important opportunity to transfer surplus labor abroad and increase household incomes in Afghanistan.

Previously, Iran, Qatar, and Russia announced plans to recruit foreign workers, particularly Afghans, in various sectors.
