On July 24–25, Samarkand hosted the prestigious International sister cities forum for the first time.
The main objective of the forum was to further strengthen long-standing friendly and partnership relations with sister cities abroad, promote the exchange of experience among cities, and establish promising joint projects, according to Uzbekistan’s Tourism Committee.
The international event brought together distinguished guests and city leaders from numerous countries around the world. In particular, Samarkand welcomed mayors of capitals and sister cities, as well as official delegations from Japan, Turkmenistan, Pakistan, Azerbaijan, Türkiye, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, France, the United States, Serbia, Russia, and several other countries.
As part of the Forum, an exhibition titled “Cities of Opportunity” was organized with the participation of representatives from the city of Tashkent and all regions of Uzbekistan.
International participants and visiting delegations were introduced to the investment, industrial, trade, tourism, and cultural potential of the capital and the country’s regions, while also learning about existing opportunities for expanding bilateral and multilateral cooperation.
Throughout the exhibition, the unique characteristics and national traditions of each region were showcased through interactive presentations, offering visitors a comprehensive overview of Uzbekistan’s diverse economic and cultural potential.
