Parliamentary elections held in Uzbekistan

On October 27, Uzbekistan held elections of the Legislative Chamber, the lower house of the country’s parliament.

On October 28, the Central Election Commission announced preliminary results of the vote, saying that the voter turnout was 74.72%, or 15,027,529 people.

Five political parties registered in Uzbekistan participated in the elections: the Liberal Democratic Party, the People’s Democratic Party, the Democratic Party “National Revival”, the Social Democratic Party “Adolat” (“Justice”), and the Ecological Party.

All five parties have entered the new parliament, with the ruling Liberal Democratic Party receiving the largest number of votes, 34.75%.

The elections were held according to a mixed election system introduced under the 2023 constitutional reform. Under the new system, only half of the 150 deputies are elected by voting for political parties and the other 75 candidates are elected individually.

There are no opposition parties registered in Uzbekistan.
