On May 5-6, the National Leader of Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty (People’s Council) of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov paid an official visit to France.
Berdimuhamedov took part in the Turkmen-French Economic Forum attended by heads and representatives of leading French companies, members of the delegation of Turkmenistan, as well as Turkmen entrepreneurs.
Opening the forum, Philippe Gautier, Executive Director of the French International Association MEDEF, emphasized that it is a great honor for French businessmen to work in Turkmenistan. He noted that the participation of the National Leader of Turkmen people in the forum and information about economic and investment opportunities of Turkmenistan enhanced the interest of French companies in the promising Turkmen market.
Speaking at the event, representatives of the French private sector emphasized their interest in participating in infrastructural projects in Turkmenistan aimed at ensuring innovative development of the national economy.
At the Élysée Palace, Berdimuhamedov met with French President Emmanuel Macron.
The oil and gas sector, satellite communications technologies, transport, construction, water resources, chemical and pharmaceutical industries, and agriculture were identified as promising areas of Turkmen-French partnership.
Then the signing ceremony of bilateral documents took place. These include: Declaration on cooperation in the field of sustainable urban development between the Government of Turkmenistan and the Government of the French Republic; Roadmap for cooperation in the field of education and through higher education institutions for 2025–2026 between the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan and the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs of the French Republic; Agreement between the Ministry of Culture of Turkmenistan and the National Museum of Natural History of France on cooperation in the field of archaeological research work; Framework agreement between the Türkmenaragatnaşyk agency of the Transport and Communications Agency under the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan and Thales Alenia Space France on equipping the national telecommunications satellite TürkmenÄlem 52оe-2; Memorandum of Understanding between the State Concern Türkmengaz and the company Kayrros SAS.
