Forty years after its establishment, the legendary Issyk-Kul International Forum is returning to Kyrgyzstan.
The 40th-anniversary Issyk-Kul International Forum will take place from June 18 to 21 in Bishkek and on the shores of Lake Issyk-Kul.
Founded in 1986 by legendary writer Chingiz Aitmatov, the forum has brought together outstanding scientists, writers, philosophers, public figures and cultural leaders from around the world, becoming a symbol of international dialogue during a period of profound global change.
For many years, people spoke about the importance of bringing this unique platform back to life. Today, that dream is becoming reality. The forum is returning and once again gathering people who care about the future of culture, education, science, international cooperation and human values.
This year’s forum focuses on civilizational dialogue, peacebuilding, and emerging global challenges, bringing together writers, scientists, artists, architects, filmmakers, and public figures from around the world.
According to Kyrgyz media, notable participants of the forum include Nobel Prize-winning Chinese author Mo Yan, renowned Romanian poet Ion Deaconescu, Azerbaijani writer and Aitmatov’s close friend Anar Rzaev, former Minister of Culture of China and renowned Chinese writer Wang Meng, Chairman of Kazakhstan’s Union of Writers Mereke Kulkenov, and Oxford University historian and bestselling author Peter Frankopan, among others.
British publisher and founder of the Eurasian Creative Guild (London), Marat Akhmedjanov received an invitation from the State Secretary of the Kyrgyz Republic Arslan Koichiyev to participate in the forum as an honorary guest.
“For me, the upcoming forum is the revival of one of Eurasia’s most remarkable intellectual traditions,” said Akhmedjanov. “Ahead are meetings with old friends, new acquaintances, inspiring conversations and, I hope, fresh ideas that will help strengthen cultural and humanitarian cooperation across Eurasia and beyond.”
