Kyrgyzstan reports steady economic growth

Kyrgyzstan continues experiencing steady economic growth, supported by rising state revenues, growing foreign investment, and expanding small and medium-sized business sector.

At a government meeting on October 6, Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Adylbek Kasymaliyev stated that in January–September 2025, state budget revenues totaled 722.9 billion soms, 23.8 billion or 3.4% more than planned.

Tax revenues reached 211.9 billion soms, 9.192 billion or 4.5% above the plan.

Customs duty collection was 102.1 billion soms, 2.4 billion or 2.4% more than planned.

According to Kasymaliyev, while globally foreign direct investment (FDI) decreased by 11% in 2024, FDI in Kyrgyzstan increased by 22%, exceeding $1 billion.

In the first half of 2025, Kyrgyzstan received FDI worth $562.7 million, 21.7% more than in the same period last year. The capital, Bishkek, accounted for 42.7% of all investments.

The prime minister stressed that one of the priority areas is supporting small and medium-sized businesses. In the first half of 2025, the small and medium enterprise sector showed significant growth: the gross added value produced by SMEs increased by 42.1% compared to the same period last year; the share of SMEs in GDP rose from 39.8% to 47.3%; the number of operating small and medium enterprises increased by 13.5%, reaching 19,100; and the number of people employed in small and medium enterprises grew by 5.3%, reaching 607,800.

The head of the Cabinet said the task is not just maintaining the current pace of economic growth but accelerating it.
