Kyrgyzstan expands fruit and vegetable exports

China’s General Administration of Customs has confirmed that Kyrgyz frozen fruit are now allowed for export to China after the registration of local frozen fruit producers with the China Import Food Enterprises Registration (CIFER) system, according to the Kyrgyz Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture and Processing Industry.

Importantly, a separate quarantine permit, as for fresh produce, is not required.

The list of permitted products includes frozen strawberries, raspberries, cherries, apples, pears, and other fruits.

Kyrgyzstan is expanding the export of agricultural products to China, with the first shipment of corn sent on March 16.

Agricultural exports are part of growing trade between Kyrgyzstan and China. According to the Chinese Embassy in Kyrgyzstan, bilateral trade grew 20% in 2025 and reached a historic high of $27.2 billion, with China’s imports from Kyrgyzstan increasing by 86%. Kyrgyzstan is currently China’s second-largest trading partner in Central Asia, and bilateral trade accounts for approximately a quarter of China’s total trade with Central Asian countries.

Kyrgyzstan seeks to increase the export of agricultural products, both fresh and processed.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture, in 2025 Kyrgyzstan exported agricultural, food, and processed agri-products for a total of $378 million, with crop, fruit and vegetable exports reaching $80.7 million.
