On July 8, Kyrgyzstan President Sadyr Japarov arrived in Tajikistan on a state visit.
In Dushanbe, Japarov met with Tajik President Emomali Rahmon to discuss issues of cooperation between Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan, including the expansion of cooperation in the political, trade and economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres. The heads of states expressed satisfaction with the finalization of the delimitation of the state border between the two countries.
The implementation of joint projects in the fields of agriculture and light and food industry was considered a priority area for increasing mutual investment. It was proposed to expand cooperation in the export and import of agricultural and food products.
The parties expressed interest in investing in free economic zones, developing logistics and industrial centers, and expanding partnership in the field of information systems development.
Much attention was paid to bolstering cooperation in promising energy sectors, expanding transit and transport highways, and increasing the number of flights.
The following documents were signed after the talks:
– Agreement between Tajikistan and the Kyrgyz Republic on confidence-building measures;
– Agreement between the Government of Tajikistan and the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic on the establishment of the Intergovernmental Council of Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan;
– Agreement on the Establishment of a Business Council between the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Tajikistan and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Kyrgyz Republic.
Rahmon and Japarov remotely participated in the opening ceremony of the border checkpoint Tojvaron-Karamik on the Kyrgyz-Tajik border.
The ceremony was held with the participation of the leadership and residents of the Lakhsh and Chon-Alai border regions of Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan.
The presidents also attended the Economic and Investment Forum of Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan and delivered speeches in the presence of businessmen and investors of the two countries.
