The Kazakhstan Low-Altitude Economy (KazLAE) Industrial Research Center was officially opened at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University in Almaty on April 17.
The Center was designed as an innovative platform for developing unmanned aviation, aero-mobility, and intelligent control systems. It will develop digital solutions, conduct joint research in artificial intelligence and industrial technologies, and train highly qualified specialists.
The opening ceremony was attended by Gilbert Van Kerckhove, rotating chairman of the UWEE Group, the Kazakh university’s partner in establishing the new center.
Headquartered in China with offices across Asia and Europe, UWEE Group is an international organization operating at the intersection of education, technology, finance, trade, and cultural cooperation. It is focused on developing innovative platforms that connect institutions, enterprises, and talents worldwide.
At the opening ceremony, Zhanseit Tuimebayev, chairman of the board and rector of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, emphasized the new center’s role in transforming Kazakhstan into a regional IT hub and integrating science and industry. “Here, scientists and industry representatives will join forces to implement applied projects that yield concrete results for the technological modernization of the economy. Our top priority is developing a new generation of engineering professionals.”
