Kazakhstan’s grain and flour exports grow 60%

Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Agriculture has announced updated figures of the country’s grain export. During the 2024-2025 marketing year (September 1, 2024, August 31, 2025), Kazakhstan exported 15.3 million tons of grain and flour, 60% more than during the 2023-2024 season and the highest figure over the last 20 years.

Since the beginning of the current 2025-2026 marketing year, new-harvest grain and flour exports have already reached 8.5 million tons, a 14% increase on-year.

Kazakhstan reported a record grain harvest for the second year in a row. In 2025, 25.9 million tons of grain were harvested, including 19.3 million tons of wheat.

This helped Kazakhstan continue strengthening its position in the global grain market and expand exports.

In 2024, Kazakhstan was the world’s 10th-largest wheat exporter and 9th-largest barley exporter.

Kazakh grain is mainly exported to Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Afghanistan.

Kazakhstan has also expanded its grain export geography to Vietnam, the United Arab Emirates, and North African countries. Grain exports have been resumed to Iran, Azerbaijan, and Georgia. High-quality Durum and Hi-Pro wheat varieties are exported to European markets.

Kazakhstan also maintains a leading position in the global flour market. In 2025, flour production exceeded 3 million tons and exports reached 1.8 million tons, a 1.2% increase compared to 2024. The main markets for Kazakh flour are Central Asian countries, Afghanistan, Russia, and China.

The government continues to support grain exports. In particular, subsidized rail transportation of grain for export have been extended until September 1, 2026.

Kazakhstan currently exports agricultural products to 72 countries. The main export destinations are countries of Central Asia, the Eurasian Economic Union, the EU, Afghanistan, Turkey, and China.

Over the past five years, Kazakhstan’s agricultural exports have grown 1.8-fold, from $3.8 billion to $7 billion in 2025.

In 2025 alone, agricultural exports grew by 36.9%.

Processed products accounted for 51.4% of the total agricultural exports.
