Kazakhstan transports cars from China to Russia in specialized railway containers

KTZ Express, a subsidiary of Kazakhstan’s national railway company Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (KTZ), is providing the pilot transportation of passenger cars in specialized containers along the international route Chongqing (China) – Dostyk (Kazakhstan) – Vorsino (Russia).

According to KTZ, the project is being implemented as part of cooperation between China Railway Container Transport Corporation (CRCT), Yuxinou (Chongqing) Logistics Co., Ltd., and KTZ Express. The train dispatcher is Yuxinou (Chongqing) Logistics Co., Ltd., while KTZ Express provides freight forwarding services across the 1520 mm gauge railway network.

The train consists of 55 specialized 40-foot containers designed for transporting vehicles. The total shipment volume amounted to 182 Changan passenger cars.

A key feature of the project is the use of new universal 40-foot containers with a payload capacity of 35 tons, specifically designed for transporting passenger cars.

The use of specialized containers helps to increase transport efficiency, ensure cargo safety en route, and expand container logistics opportunities for the automotive industry.

The pilot transportation marks an important stage in the development of container services for transporting finished vehicles along the China–Russia route and confirms the potential of utilizing modern logistics solutions in international rail traffic.

The project contributes to the further development of international cooperation among the route participants and strengthens transport and logistical links between China, Kazakhstan, and Eurasian countries.
