Hotline for victims of domestic violence launched in Kyrgyzstan

Kyrgyzstan’s Ministry of Labor, Social Welfare, and Migration has announced the launch of a new social project aimed at providing assistance to women and girls who suffer from domestic violence, as well as to victims of human trafficking.

A 24-hour hotline has been launched to provide prompt and high-quality assistance to victims of domestic violence and human trafficking.

By calling 5200, anyone can receive free, anonymous, and confidential assistance from professional psychologists. The hotline operates 24/7 and is accessible throughout Kyrgyzstan through all mobile operators.

The hotline provides:

  • psychological support for victims of violence and exploitation
  • information about available services and measures to protect the rights of victims
  • consultations on safe shelters, medical and legal assistance
  • support for relatives of victims and witnesses of violence.

Domestic violence remains a pressing issue in Kyrgyzstan, with high-profile crimes periodically shocking the public and violence statistics rising every year.

According to the National Statistical Committee, in 2023, more than 14,000 people contacted crisis centers, and 52% of them reported domestic violence. Women accounted for 96% of those seeking help because of domestic violence.

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, 19,995 cases of domestic violence were registered in the first 11 months of 2025, a 27.5% increase compared to the same period in 2024.
