Fines for killing wild animals raised in Kyrgyzstan

The Ministry of Natural Resources, Ecology, and Technical Supervision has announced that a new resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers has significantly increased fines for harming wildlife in Kyrgyzstan. The measure is aimed at preserving biodiversity and strengthening the fight against poaching.

According to the new regulations, the fine for illegally hunting ibex has tripled to 300,000 soms (about $3,430), and for roe deer, it has doubled to 100,000 soms (about $1,143).

The document also establishes a 30,000-som ($343) fine for harming white and black storks.

In addition, the document revises the mechanism for distributing funds raised from fines: now, a portion of the collected money will be used to provide financial incentives to individuals who identify environmental violations and assist in their prosecution.

The ministry has called on citizens to strictly comply with environmental legislation and reminds that the preservation of Kyrgyzstan’s unique fauna is the duty of every resident.
