EBRD €10 million loan to finance copper pipe production in Uzbekistan

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) says it is providing a loan of up to €10 million to MaxCopper, a newly created copper pipe manufacturer in Uzbekistan, to finance working capital needs for the establishment and ramping-up of production operations. The proceeds will also be used to purchase raw materials, such as copper cathodes.

MaxCopper will manufacture copper pipes and fittings for use primarily in the heating, ventilation and air-conditioning sectors. It will produce a variety of copper pipe products, including lightweight coils, straight pipes and pancake coils, and plans to export the majority of its output to European and neighboring markets.

This project will support the development of a greenfield copper pipe production facility in Uzbekistan, representing a significant step in the diversification of the country’s industrial base. As a newly established private enterprise, MaxCopper will introduce modern manufacturing technologies and international quality standards to the sector.

The EBRD has invested €5.57 billion in Uzbekistan to date across 193 projects, with the majority of those funds supporting private entrepreneurship, contributing to the country’s economic development.
