Construction of a world-class film studio, Dala Stage, has begun in the town of Kaskelen in the Almaty region.
According to the press service of the Almaty region’s governor, one of the most notable moments at the project’s groundbreaking ceremony was the delivery of a time capsule from Jackie Chan, which was transported by helicopter. The capsule was received by director Robert Koon, who is set to work on the first production at the new film studio, Armor of God 4: Ultimatum, in which Jackie Chan will star.
The ceremony was attended by Almaty Region Governor Marat Sultangaziyev, who signed a memorandum with Jackie Chan’s producer Li Chiu Wa.
Sultangaziyev noted that this film studio will be an important project for the country’s culture and economy.
“The modern world is an era of intellect and talent, advanced technologies, and new ideas. Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has defined the development of the creative economy as a strategic objective, opening new horizons for the country. Today, we are witnessing the implementation of this important initiative. The film industry is rapidly developing, requiring increasingly large-scale solutions and high technologies. The new Dala Stage Creative Tech Park project will enable domestic professionals to compete globally with leading global studios,” said Governor Sultangaziyev.
The new film studio will span 15 hectares. Completion of construction is scheduled for August of this year. The new facility will become an important factor in the development of the national film industry, training qualified specialists, attracting investment, and producing competitive content.
