Uzbekistan to increase natural gas production

On January 12, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed plans of the country’s oil and gas company, Uzbekneftegaz, to increase natural gas reserves and production volumes, as well as to intensify geological exploration.

In 2026, Uzbekneftegaz must increase the daily production of natural gas from 66 million cubic meters to 70 million cubic meters and produce not less than 25.4 billion cubic meters of gas.

In order to increase gas reserves it is necessary to develop new prospective investment blocs, as well as accelerate works and increase the effectiveness in some fields offered to investors for development.

It was also pointed that the capacities producing naphtha currently stand at 70 percent, and the products are exported 50 percent cheaper. Considering that the processing of naphtha into polymer products allows to increase the added value six-fold, the President instructed to take measures to fully utilize the existing capacities.
