Since the beginning of 2026, solar and wind power plants in Uzbekistan have generated 1 billion kWh of electricity. According to the Ministry of Energy, this milestone was reached by February 13, a 40% (400 million kWh) increase over the same period last year, Tashkent Today reported.
Uzbekistan now has 15 solar power plants with a combined capacity of over 5.5 GW and five wind farms.
Wind power plants led in the contribution to the country’s energy mix in the first six weeks of the year, producing 604 million kWh, while solar power plants generated 396 million kWh. The use of wind and solar energy has enabled the country to save 267 million cubic meters of natural gas and prevent the emission of 575,000 tons of harmful substances into the atmosphere. With hydroelectric power plants, the total volume of “clean” energy in Uzbekistan reached 1.57 billion kWh.
The green energy sector’s dynamics are showing exponential growth: while green energy production in 2022 was only 434 million kWh, it reached 10.5 billion kWh in 2025.
This confirms Uzbekistan’s commitment to a large-scale transformation of the energy system and strengthening the region’s environmental stability.
