Uzbekistan president receives U.S. delegation

On October 27 in Tashkent, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received the American delegation headed by the Special Envoy of the U.S. President for South and Central Asian Affairs Sergio Gor.

The meeting was also attended by U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau. 

The parties reviewed issues of further developing Uzbek-American relations of strategic partnership in the context of implementing high-level agreements reached in New York City on September 23 this year.

Gor conveyed to Mirziyoyev sincere greetings and warm wishes from President Donald Trump.

The intensive political dialogue, exchanges on various levels, active business contacts were noted with satisfaction. The volume of trade turnover is growing, and a visit of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce was successfully organized in the beginning of October. 

The parties noted the importance of promoting projects in the sphere of industry, finance, critical minerals, energy, digitalization, agriculture and other priority areas based on the adopted road map. 

The sides also discussed issues of strengthening partnership in the sphere of security, combating terrorism and extremism, as well illegal migration.

The schedule of the upcoming events was also reviewed, including a C5+1 summit of the presidents of the U.S. and Central Asian countries, which will take place next week in Washington D.C.
