Uzbekistan president puts forward key initiatives at OTS summit

At the summit of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) on October 7 in Gabala, Azerbaijan, Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev proposed a number of initiatives aimed at strengthening the unity of the Turkic world and enhancing its role in global politics, the economy, and humanitarian development.

Mirziyoyev proposed to hold in Samarkand the first joint meeting of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs and heads of intelligence agencies of the OTS member states, to develop the Organization’s 2030 Development Strategy, to promote environmental awareness among youth, to establish the Permanent Council for Economic Partnership of the Turkic States with a Project Office in Tashkent, to launch the Turkic Industrial Alliance, the Turkic Green Corridors system and the Green Transformation Consortium, and to introduce a unified global brand for Turkic organic products.

In addition, Mirziyoyev proposed adopting a Roadmap on Artificial Intelligence and the Creative Economy, holding the International Exhibition of the Turkic World in Uzbekistan, and organizing an international conference in 2026 titled “The Legacy of Nizami Ganjavi and Alisher Navoi in the Spiritual Life of the Turkic World.” He also announced the establishment of the International University of the Turkic States in Uzbekistan, which will serve as a platform for joint research and innovation.

Uzbekistan consistently upholds the firm conviction that cooperation among OTS member states must be reflected in joint projects, investments, infrastructure development and knowledge exchange — all of which contribute to strengthening stability and mutual trust in the region.

Within the framework of the OTS, Uzbekistan is also promoting initiatives to enhance transport and logistics connectivity, particularly through the development of the Middle (Trans-Caspian) Transport Corridor, which links Central Asia, the Caucasus, and Europe. This route is identified in official OTS documents as one of the key priorities for economic integration.
