At the 7th Hotel Business Forum 2026 in Tashkent, the Tourism Committee of Uzbekistan announced its forecast for the current year: the country intends to receive 12 million foreign tourists. Extensive infrastructure preparations have been undertaken to accommodate this number of visitors, Tashkent Today reports.
To date, 1,023 new accommodation facilities, including hotels, hostels, and family-run guesthouses, have opened in various regions of the country. Currently, Uzbekistan’s total room stock stands at 6,921 facilities with 185,600 beds. The tourism development strategy for 2026 is aimed at shifting away from the traditional Samarkand-Bukhara-Khiva routes in favor of promoting the Fergana Valley, Kashkadarya, and Karakalpakstan regions.
Particular attention is being paid to the digitalization of the tourist industry and the implementation of artificial intelligence for personalized service.
The growth of the industry is supported by growing domestic tourism. In 2025, local citizens made more than 23.7 million trips under the “Travel Uzbekistan” program, which helped align service quality with international standards.
