The government in Uzbekistan recommends entrepreneurs not to build new methane filling stations amid problems with supplying methane to existing stations. Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Jamshid Khodjaev said this at a meeting with entrepreneurs in Karakalpakstan on February 6, Uzbek media reported.
According to Khodjaev, even the operating stations currently lack methane.
“Currently, permits for [the construction of new] methane filling stations are not being issued. They cannot supply gas to existing methane stations. If you build a new one, you will lose money. You will not have methane,” he said.
Farkhod Ermanov, Chairman of the Council of Ministers of Karakalpakstan, added that entrepreneurs had been informed of this issue in advance. Since last year, permits for the construction of new methane stations have not been issued, he noted.
Methane is significantly cheaper than gasoline and remains the most popular motor fuel in Uzbekistan.
