Between May 19 and 21, the Uzbek city of Termez is hosting the first meeting of the Termez Dialogue on Connectivity between Central and South Asia, entitled “Building a Common Space of Peace, Friendship and Prosperity”.
The event was organized by the Institute for Strategic and Regional Studies under the President of Uzbekistan, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan, and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan.
The international forum brought together about 200 participants from Central and South Asia, Europe, the CIS, Asia and the Pacific, America, and the Middle East. Among them are representatives of political and business circles, financial institutions, international and regional organizations, as well as prominent experts.
The main goal of the dialogue is to form a multilateral discussion platform for the practical promotion of the special resolution of the UN General Assembly “Strengthening the Connectivity between Central and South Asia”, adopted in 2022 on the initiative of Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
The forum discusses interregional cooperation between Central and South Asia with the focus on strengthening cooperation in ensuring security, stability and sustainable development, expanding the role of the private sector and financial institutions in ensuring economic growth.
The Termez Dialogue is intended to become a permanent platform for defining prospects for further promotion of interregional interconnectedness and maintaining peace, security and stability on the vast Eurasian continent.
