Uzbekistan expands drinking water supply

On May 27, Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev listened to reports on the ongoing work to expand the drinking water supply and sewage services in the country.

Today 81% of all cities and villages in Uzbekistan have access to centralized drinking water supply, and the sewage system coverage is 20%.

In the current year, it is planned to construct 1,619 kilometers of water supply pipelines and 521 kilometers of sewage networks. As a result, 715,000 people will get access to clean drinking water for the first time, and an additional 675,000 will be covered by sewage services.

In order to digitalize the water supply system, Uzbekistan attracted $125 million from the Asian Development Bank. During the next five years, 4,800 smart water meters will be installed across the country.
