Work on the establishment of protective forest plantations is ongoing in the regions of Uzbekistan.

During the current year, 17 state forestry enterprises have established protective forest plantations covering a total area of 776 hectares. In particular, this work was carried out by the Andijan, Khorezm, Shurtan, Navoi, Navbahor, Akhangaran, and Kizirik state forestry enterprises, according to the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change.

In accordance with Presidential Decree of 30 January 2025, “On the State Program for the Implementation of the Uzbekistan–2030 Strategy in the Year of Environmental Protection and Green Economy”, the Agency for Expanding Forests and Green Areas and Combating Desertification under the Ministry of Ecology has developed roadmaps and launched practical activities since the beginning of the year.

To prevent soil erosion in desert, mountain, and foothill areas, 44 projects have been prepared, under which 3,302 hectares of land have been allocated for the creation of protective forest plantations.

In addition, on the dried bed of the Aral Sea and in desert regions, seedlings and seeds of shrubs such as saxaul, Salsola and Calligonum have been planted and sown. In mountain and foothill areas, pistachio and almond trees are predominantly planted; in more humid soils, walnut, dog rose and apricot; and in irrigated areas, fast-growing species such as poplar, elm, paulownia, and black poplar.

The creation of protective forest plantations takes into account the soil and climatic conditions of each region. According to experts, the survival rate of trees and shrubs directly depends on the quality of soil preparation.
