Uzbekistan and Qatar have reaffirmed their commitment to deepening brotherly relations and advancing multifaceted cooperation during the inaugural meeting of the Coordination Council for Strategic Partnership held on August 21 in Doha.
The meeting was co-chaired by Bakhtiyor Saidov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan, and Sheikh Mohammed Bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar.
The Coordination Council, established under the 2024 Agreement on Bilateral Strategic Partnership, serves as a platform to ensure the effective implementation of high-level agreements and to explore new avenues for cooperation across political, economic, cultural, and humanitarian spheres.
Discussions focused on strengthening political dialogue, expanding trade and investment, enhancing academic, scientific and cultural exchanges, promoting youth and sports development, improving transport connectivity, and addressing environmental sustainability and climate change.
Qatar and Uzbekistan confirmed their interest in strengthening comprehensive bilateral relations based on the principles of mutual respect, equality, and pragmatism. Both sides emphasized that regular mutual visits at the highest level, as well as intensified exchanges of delegations, will contribute to the strengthening and expansion of Uzbek-Qatari strategic partnership.
The two sides welcomed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding on investment cooperation between Qatar Mining Company and the Ministry of Mining Industry and Geology of Uzbekistan.
Both sides agreed to hold the second meeting of the Qatar-Uzbekistan Coordination Council for Strategic Partnership in Samarkand.
