US deports over 100 citizens of Central Asian countries

On April 30, the U.S. government deported over 100 Uzbekistani, Kazakhstani, and Kyrgyzstani citizens present illegally in the United States on a charter flight organized by Uzbekistan’s government, the U.S. Embassy in Uzbekistan said.

This operation, the first in which a U.S. partner proactively provided a dedicated flight to repatriate its citizens, exemplifies the productive and growing cooperation between the United States and Uzbekistan. By organizing and funding the removal of its citizens present illegally in the United States and allowing the removal of nationals from other countries on Uzbek flights, Uzbekistan demonstrated its role as a trusted and proactive partner in the realm of international security.

The embassy emphasized that this landmark partnership reflects a deepening of bilateral ties and the United States welcomes Uzbekistan’s commitment to addressing shared challenges in border security and immigration enforcement.  By facilitating the deportation process, Uzbekistan is contributing to the broader effort of maintaining secure and well-managed borders across the region.  This action highlights the value of burden sharing, as Uzbekistan sets a powerful example of regional cooperation, showing how nations can work together to address complex security and immigration issues while respecting each country’s sovereignty.

The coordination between Uzbekistan and the United States in this operation underscores the effectiveness of our Enhanced Strategic Partnership and broader collaboration on counterterrorism, law enforcement, and border security efforts.
