One of Turkey’s leading logistics companies, S Sistem Lojistik, plans to invest approximately $100 million in the construction of a network of modern logistics and warehouse terminals in Kazakhstan. Priority locations for these facilities include Almaty, Astana, Shymkent, Aktau, and other major cities.
The project was discussed in Astana on June 27 by Chairman of the Investment Committee of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, Gabidulla Ospankulov, and Hüseyin Barlin, Chairman of the Board of S Sistem Lojistik.
The parties also considered the possibility of signing an Investment Agreement and a Special Investment Contract, which would provide for government support measures, tax preferences, and infrastructure assistance.
Ospankulov emphasized the significance of the proposed project for developing Kazakhstan’s transport and logistics potential: “Kazakhstan is currently in an active phase of developing its logistics infrastructure, and projects like those proposed by S Sistem Lojistik are crucial for improving the efficiency of both domestic and transit transportation. We view logistics as a key area for attracting investment, particularly in the context of economic diversification and strengthening Kazakhstan’s role as a transport hub of Eurasia,” said Ospankulov, pledging to provide comprehensive support to the Turkish investor and assist in securing land plots and connecting to government support mechanisms.
Barlin expressed strong interest in Kazakhstan as a strategic direction for expanding the company’s operations. He emphasized the country’s unique transit potential and favorable investment environment for logistics development.
On June 25 in Astana, Kazakhstan’s Acting Minister of Transport Maksat Kaliakparov met with Turkey’s Deputy Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Enver Iskurt to discuss cooperation in the field of transport and logistics.
Special attention was paid to the further development of cooperation in the field of road, rail, sea and air transportation, as well as joint projects for the development of international transport corridors, including the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route.
The Turkish side expressed interest in increasing the volume of bilateral and transit transportation, as well as in the participation of Turkish companies in infrastructure projects in Kazakhstan.
