‘Train to the Aral Sea’ unites youth around tourism and ecology in Uzbekistan

On May 20, participants of the youth campaign “Train to the Aral Sea” departed for the Republic of Karakalpakstan to take part in cultural, educational, environmental, and tourism-related events aimed at introducing young people to the tourism potential of the Aral Sea region, the historical and cultural heritage of the area, and the environmental challenges of the Aral Sea, according to the Tourism Committee of Uzbekistan.

During the departure ceremony held at the Southern Railway Station in Tashkent, a representative of the Tourism Committee wished the participants a safe journey and emphasized the importance of such initiatives in promoting domestic tourism, strengthening environmental awareness among youth, and showcasing the tourism potential of the Aral Sea region.

The campaign is being implemented within the framework of the priority objectives of the “Uzbekistan–2030” Strategy, aimed at developing domestic and eco-tourism, supporting youth initiatives, enhancing environmental culture, and promoting the tourism potential of the country’s regions.

As part of the initiative, young participants from different regions of the country will visit Nukus, as well as the Kegeyli, Karauzyak, Chimbay, Muynak and other districts of Karakalpakstan.

The program includes visits to the tourism, cultural, and pilgrimage sites of Karakalpakstan. During the trip, participants will also visit the Aral Sea History Museum, the ship cemetery in Muynak, and the Savitsky State Museum of Arts of Karakalpakstan.

The “Train to the Aral Sea” campaign aims to familiarize young people with the natural, cultural, and tourism potential of the Aral Sea region, increase interest in domestic tourism, and draw attention to environmental issues and environmental protection.
