Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan and Central Asia’s largest city, has been included in the list of “The Best Places to Go in Asia in 2026” by the international travel magazine Condé Nast Traveler.
According to the magazine, “Tashkent has reinvented itself time and again—shaped first by Silk Road merchants, then by Arab dynasties and later Russian conquest. Those layers remain in the city’s sweeping Soviet Modernist silhouettes and Silk Road-era blue-tiled domes.”
Tashkent is becoming the cultural tourism hub of Central Asia. The publication highlights that at the end of 2025, city officials cut the ribbon on the Centre for Islamic Civilization, a complex housing a museum, and exhibition and education spaces dedicated to telling the story of Islamic culture and learning.
Today, Tashkent appeals to travelers not only as a starting point for exploring Uzbekistan’s gems but also as an independent destination. The city offers the atmosphere of a Central Asian capital, making it a must-visit stop for those seeking new experiences and journeys off the beaten path.
