Production of Samsung TVs and washing machines launched in Kazakhstan

The Silk Road Electronics plant in Saran in Kazakhstan’s Karaganda region has begun production of TVs and washing machines under South Korea’s Samsung brand.

The project is a result of joint efforts of the state, foreign investor, and private business. The new production will create new jobs, stimulate the development of related industries, attract investment, and ensure the transfer of technology and production competencies.

The new production line will manufacture Samsung washing machines with SmartThings ecosystem support, as well as high-resolution TVs with Smart TV function (Crystal UHD 4K, FHD and HD models). In the future, it is planned to launch production of QLED series TVs.

By the end of this year, the enterprise plans to produce 10,000 TVs and 25,000 washing machines under the Samsung brand.

The capacity of the line allows for the production of up to 150,000 TVs and 200,000 washing machines per year.

The launch of production of world-class consumer electronics in Kazakhstan contributes to the implementation of the import substitution policy and increasing the level of production localization in the country.

At the launch ceremony on August 18, Eugene Chung, President of Samsung Electronics Central Eurasia, stated: “Samsung has been doing business in Kazakhstan since the 1990s, and the launch of this production is the first in the country. The company has big plans for the future. Representatives of Samsung headquarters from the Korean office accompany the process and ensure quality control, which will continue until the enterprise reaches full capacity.”
