More Chinese tourists visit Uzbekistan

In recent years, Uzbekistan has significantly expanded efforts to attract tourists from China — one of the world’s largest tourism markets. The year 2025 was declared the “Year of Uzbekistan Tourism in China.” Throughout the year, tourism roadshows were held in major Chinese cities and provinces, and Uzbekistan presented its national stand at major tourism exhibitions in Xi’an, Guangzhou, and Hong Kong, the Tourism Committee of Uzbekistan reported.

The necessary conditions are being created to expand direct cooperation between tourism businesses of the two countries. For example, events held to date have included B2B meetings with more than 500 Chinese tourism companies, and over 40 cooperation agreements have been signed.

Since June 1, 2025, a visa-free regime has been introduced between Uzbekistan and China, opening up enormous opportunities for tourism industry representatives.

As a result, from January to October 2025, 217,000 tourists from China visited Uzbekistan. By the end of the year, this figure is expected to reach 250,000.

The results achieved within the framework of the Year of Tourism exceed the current year’s target—180,000 tourists—by 40%, and are 3.7 times higher than last year’s figures. This indicates that the goal set by the President to attract 1 million tourists from China is being implemented at an accelerated pace.
