According to the latest figures published by the National Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan, the country’s foreign trade continues to decline, with a decrease in both exports and imports.
In January-August 2025, Kyrgyzstan’s foreign trade decreased by 9.1% compared to the same period in 2024, amounting to $9.8 billion.
Exports fell by 23.7% to $1.7 billion and imports decreased by 5.2% to $8.1 billion.
Kyrgyzstan remains an import-dependent country, with imports accounting for 82.4% of its total foreign trade turnover.
Kyrgyzstan’s trade with fellow member states of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU)—Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Russia—also decreased, by 3.3%, in January-August 2025, and totaled $3.3 billion. Exports to the EAEU countries decreased by 35.7%, while imports increased by 10.8%. Russia (65.7%) and Kazakhstan (32.1%) were Kyrgyzstan’s largest trading partners within the EAEU.
Kyrgyzstan’s trade with non-EAEU countries decreased by 11.8% and totaled $6.5 billion in January-August 2025. China remains Kyrgyzstan’s largest trading partner outside the EAEU.
