President Sadyr Japarov on February 18 officially opened a cable car in the Ala-Archa State Nature Park, the first gondola cable lift in Kyrgyzstan.
The Ala-Archa Nature Park is located about 30 km from Bishkek and stretches along the Ala-Archa River. The park is a popular weekend getaway for Bishkek residents and foreign tourists. The park offers hiking and horseback riding trails, as well as routes of varying difficulty for climbers, both amateur and professional. A mountaineering camp is located at an altitude of over 2,000 meters above sea level.
The 1-km-long cableway, capable of transporting nearly a thousand people per hour, will offer a new experience for visitors to the park.
The cable car has been constructed by Austrian company Doppelmayr, a world leader in cable car construction.
At the opening ceremony, Japarov announced that construction of the cableway extension will begin soon.
“We will continue the comprehensive development of the nature park as part of the second phase of this cableway extension. The second phase will begin at the park’s entrance and will stretch for 12 kilometers, reaching the most picturesque and inaccessible areas of the national park.”
In recent years, the state has completely renovated the nature park’s infrastructure, creating modern and comfortable conditions for tourists. Modern cottages for tourists are being built. Construction of a toboggan run is currently underway. Additionally, a five-star hotel with a swimming pool is planned in the park.
