Kyrgyz Ambassador meets with UK Trade Envoy to Azerbaijan and Central Asia

On April 30 in London, the Ambassador of the Kyrgyz Republic to the United Kingdom, Ulan Djusupov, held a meeting with Lord John Alderdice, the UK Trade Envoy to Azerbaijan and Central Asia.

During the meeting, the parties discussed prospects for expanding Kyrgyz–UK trade, economic, and investment cooperation. Ambassador Djusupov briefed the Trade Envoy on the current socio-economic situation in Kyrgyzstan, ongoing reforms, and measures taken to improve the business environment — including liberalization of the tax and customs systems, digitalization of the economy, support for entrepreneurship, and stable GDP growth.

Special attention was given to major national projects such as the China–Kyrgyzstan–Uzbekistan railway, hydropower development, Kyrgyzstan’s participation in the UK’s Developing Countries Trading Scheme (DCTS), and the work of the Kyrgyz-British Business Council.

The Ambassador emphasized Kyrgyzstan’s strong interest in attracting UK investment, particularly in the mining sector, renewable energy, transport infrastructure, and agribusiness.

Lord Alderdice welcomed the positive momentum in Kyrgyz–UK relations and reaffirmed his readiness to support further development of trade and investment cooperation within the scope of his mandate.

The UK Trade Envoy is a special representative appointed by the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom to promote British trade and investment in specific countries or regions. The envoy represents UK business interests and works closely with governments and companies abroad. Lord Alderdice is a member of the House of Lords and is actively engaged in strengthening the UK’s external economic relations with Eurasia.
